Since the duo from Greenwich released their masterful debutEyelid Moviesin 2010, hasPhantogram has been a leader in genre-bending electronic indie rock that incorporates samples and crisp beats from hip-hop.

They have collaborated with a wide range of artists across the music spectrum, including The Flaming Lips, Miley Cyrus, Tom Morello, A-Trak, A$AP Rocky, Future Islands, Run the Jewels, Charli XCX, Deftones and Big Boi.

Behind the project are Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel. The duo formed in 2007 under the name Charlie Everywhere. In 2009, Carter decided on "Phantogram" as the new band name. A phantogram is an optical illusion where a two-dimensional image appears three-dimensional. The name perfectly reflects the band's ability to create something that feels much bigger than just the two of them.

The band has five studio albums under their belts so far. The latest, Memory of a Day, was released in 2024 and was written during the Covid pandemic. The album delves into childhood memories and the bittersweet nostalgia that can be associated with it. On the album, they create a rich, atmospheric soundscape through beautiful melodious dream-pop melodies and heavy repetitive beats. The Au Review wrote in their dazzling, five-star review:
