Pond paints VEGA in psychedelic colour schemes
Pond is formed in the Western Australian city of Perth by Nicholas Allbrook, Jay Watson, Joseph Ryan, James Ireland and Jamie Terry. The band was born out of the camaraderie of a group of friends playing music together in a collaborative style. Cosy moments transformed into bigger musical experiences with the release of their 2012 album Bear, Wives, Denim, which cemented Pond as an internationally touring band.
Today, their impressive back catalogue boasts nine critically acclaimed albums and there are promises of more to come.
Pond is often associated with fellow countrymen Tame Impala, which is not surprising. Several of the members of Pond have played with Tame Impala, and Tame Impala's Kevin Parker has played drums in Pond and has been a key part of several of their records in his role as producer.
In addition to garnering rave reviews for their albums from critics around the world, Pond are also notoriously known for their captivating live shows - both when they play in their own name or when they share the stage with names like Flaming Lips, Queens of the Stone Age and the aforementioned Tame Impala.
Pond last visited Denmark in 2019 with a festival concert at NorthSide and later that year with a sold-out show at Loppen in Copenhagen. Now they return with what promises to be a sweat-drenched evening in Lille VEGA.
Support: The Jürgen Clubs
Since The Jürgen Clubs released their first single in 2022, the unpretentious indie rockers have managed to establish their name on the Danish music scene as a breath of fresh air with their energetic and humorous songs.
GAFFA highlighted the band as ‘They will be big in 2023’, Politiken recommended the single ‘Shiver’, while P6 BEAT has played the group more than 500 times.
In October, the quartet is ready to warm up VEGA with their jacuzzi rock before Pond takes the stage on 13 October.
