Soar in the synthpop twilight with Kite
Due to popular demand and a sold-out concert in Lille VEGA, Swedish duo Kite will now also play a concert in Store VEGA in 2024.
Since 2008, Kite has let their brooding fusion of cinematic electro and grandiose pop drift through the world. The duo creates music that is as accessible as it is adventurous, and as grand as it is dark.
The mix has grown over the years through passion, atmosphere and community, as their performance at the Royal Swedish Opera in 2019 emphasised. Here, the duo was flanked by a 16-piece orchestra.
Kite, consisting of Nicklas Stenemo and Christian Hutchinson Berg, has reached its current position on its own terms and by always going its own way. Often against the rules of the music industry.
For example, the duo are enthusiastic about the EP format and have only released one album in their career. Their musical ethos is "all killer, no filler", so in their back catalogue you'll find six EPs and a collection of singles.
Support: Henric de la Cour
In his almost 30-year career, Henric de la Cour has gone from frontman of Yvonne, then to member of Strip Music, to now being a solo artist.
As Henric de la Cour returns with new music, it has been 6 years since his last album Gimme Daggers. During that time, he has scrutinised himself and has come out the other side with a partially new costume. What remains is everything his fans have loved since they first came into contact with the now legendary singer during Yvonne's breakthrough in the 90s - grandeur, desperation and pop music that straddles the line between the darkest indie and the brightest synth.
Beyond this, we find the new music chiselled out of a distilled sound. The soundscape is more airy. The lyrics are more precise. The production - as on the previous solo albums created in collaboration with Rikard Lindh - explores spaces that have not been explored before. de la Cour says more with less, and authenticity is always present.
A brand new album is expected in early 2025.
