In 2022, Russian Circles released the album Gnosis, once again sending the listener straight into the eye of the post-metal hurricane.

Like many artists during the COVID era, lockdown forced the band to re-evaluate their writing process. Instead of crafting songs from fragmented ideas in the rehearsal room, entire songs were written and recorded before being shared with the other members, keeping the original vision intact.

Despite the entire album being pieced together over an internet connection, the songs were recorded with the whole band playing together to preserve the live feel of the material. Because of Corona and a new writing method, Russian Circles created their most brooding and focused work to date.

Russian Circles is an institution in instrumental rock. The American trio has climbed to the top of the thunderous peaks and set up camp with their mammoth genre mix of classic post-rock, sludge and post-metal. Across their previous seven studio albums, the Chicago-based instrumental trio have delivered a wealth of moods and new sonic explorations through their heavy arsenal of drums, bass and guitar.

Since their first release in 2006, Russian Circles have been on a musical soul-searching journey through their compositions, constantly challenging their approach to music. From the thoughtful and intricate melodies of their debut album Enter to the layered, distorted songs of 2019's Blood Year.

Fans can expect endless dynamics and tones. The melodies shift indecisively between the melancholic, dizzying, subdued, pastoral and barbaric. When Russian Circles hit VEGA on 24 October, they will be supported by REZN.
