The Midnight envelops VEGA in atmospheric synthwave
It will be an evening of glittering neon lights, trembling synthesizer chords and softly thumping bass when The Midnight will give a concert at Store VEGA in September. With their atmospheric synthwave sound, the group has established itself as one of the most exciting electronic names of the last ten years.
At The Midnight, inspiration flows from the soundtrack to Drive and groups like Chromatics, Kavinsky and Daft Punk come together in dark and danceable compositions that exude restless nights in glittering sci-fi metropolises. It's music that's made to dream away, get lost in and dance escapist to.
The Midnight was formed in 2012 by American singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle and Danish producer-songwriter Tim McEwan, who met in North Hollywood and began making music together. Two years later, they released their debut EP Days of Thunder, before releasing their first joint full-length in 2016 Endless SummerTheir big break came with the sequel Nocturnal (2017), which topped Bandcamp's sales chart for several weeks and reached a respectable 17th place on the American Dance/Electronic chart.
In total, The Midnight has released five studio albums, most recently Heroes from 2022, where the duo renews its synth-dominated soundscape with more hard-hitting and rocking elements with inspiration from the hair metal kings of Def Leppard and producer legend Mutt Lange (AD/DC, The Cars, Huey Lewis and the News).
In 2024, the group released the excellent single "Chariot", so there should be a guarantee of new songs when The Midnight takes the stage on September 21st at Store VEGA.
Support : Pale Blue Eyes
Pale Blue Eyes is an alternative/indie-pop focused band from Sheffield, England.
At the helm are Matt and Lucy Board - a marriage of two stylistic perspectives, each bringing unique sonic tropes to the table. It's the pair's fascination with DIY ethics, retro synths and reminiscence that drives their sonic world.
The third part of the Pale Blue Eyes triad came about when Matt and Lucy met bassist Aubrey Simpson at South
Devon's Sea Change festival. Together they have made two albums, and several
tracks from both albums have been played on BBC Radio 6 Music, they have played two
Riley sessions, toured the UK and Europe, supported GOAT,
Slowdive, Sea Power, The Editors, Public Service Broadcasting, FEWS and many more.
The band looks forward to releasing their third album in 2025.
