UngKlang celebrates Women's Day in Store VEGA
UngKlang is a vocal ensemble consisting of nine young women who have been exploring and challenging the boundaries of choral music since 2020.
With classically trained voices, they create traditional choir concerts, collaborate across art forms and have also sung with established Danish artists such as Kind Mod Kind, Coco O. and JJ Paulo. This range means that UngKlang manages to bring choral music to a younger audience than the one traditionally associated with the genre. The group's foundation is a long-standing - for some, lifelong - friendship that has been the central driving force of the ensemble from the beginning. Since their formation in 2020, UngKlang has established itself as a strong voice on the Danish art scene and as an inspiring community of women.
Women's communities are the focal point of the concert in connection with Women's Day. UngKlang marks the day with a repertoire consisting exclusively of music written by female artists and composers.
The concert features an evening with specially invited guest soloists performing their own works in collaboration with UngKlang. The choir will accompany the guest soloists with choral arrangements written especially for the occasion.
For the concert, UngKlang will be joined by special guests: Pil, Bette and ILMA.
Special guests: Pil + Bette + ILMA
Pil
Pil writes Danish-language songs about quirky emotions in an uplifting and playful pop universe. Pil's career took off when she won Karrierekanonen in 2021 and was nominated for a Danish Music Award the following year. A series of powerful singles such as "Nattely", ‘Omvendt’ with Andreas Odbjerg and "Gulvet" with Burhan G were instrumental in bringing her here, but it wasn't until "Dronning Af Månen" from 2023 that Pil had a real breakthrough. Pil has just played her biggest concerts to date in K.B. Hallen in Copenhagen and ACC in Aarhus, where UngKlang was also on stage.
Bette
Since her debut release, Bette has stormed onto the Danish music scene as Denmark's new R'n'B darling. Bette has received great recognition for her amazing music and has previously been selected as VEGA's Featured in 2019 and P3's Inevitable for the song "Hører Dem Ikke". She is currently releasing her latest singles, "Blød" and "Hvornår Kommer Du Hjem", which she made together with APHACA.
ILMA
Ilma's music is present in an otherworldly way, with a spectrum the size of the North Sea where she grew up. She lets go where others take hold and floats freely through a sonic universe filled with crackling rhythms, flowing 808s and ethereal synths. The music sounds international in its genre fusion between pop, hip hop, R&B and urban, reminiscent of names like 070 Shake, Don Toliver and Kehlani.
