Ella Marie is a Sámi artist and activist from Sápmi in northern Norway. As the charismatic frontwoman of the band ISÁK, she has captivated audiences for seven years with her electrifying stage presence and soulful brand of joik.
In 2024, she embarked on a new journey as a solo artist, debuting at Riddu Riđđu and Øya Festival with timeless pop sung in Northern Sami.
Today, Ella Marie is recognised as one of Scandinavia's most passionate activists, using music as a tool to speak out for the rights of the Sami people. She has become a symbol of Sami pride and cultural resilience, and through her acting, writing, podcast hosting, and musical endeavours, she brings visibility to the Sami story through her own personal life.
Her national breakthrough came in 2018 when she won the Norwegian talent show Stjernekamp and captured the hearts of viewers across the country. With over 245 million streams on Spotify and collaborations with globally recognised artists including Alan Walker, Ella Marie toured the world with ISÁK until 2023.
Her work has been recognised with numerous awards, including the Áillohaš Music Award, Fritt Ord Honor, Nordic Pioneer Prize, Zola Prize and By:Larmer Of The Year.
Ella Marie has released six singles and is currently putting her time and heart into her upcoming debut album.
