A Rocking Christmas adventure with Anders Knudsen.
Anders Knudsen , also known from the Danish rock band, Door No. 13, is aiming to create a major Christmas album. An album that, in the form of ten Christmas singles over ten years, will be released in its full form in 2030. In 2024, he takes the band on the road.
"It's simple, yet fresh and fuzzy rock 'n' roll that works best if you feel like running around the Christmas tree," wrote Simon Lund from Politiken about the 2023 single A Day in the Life of a Christmas Tree.
The track featured a prominent Christmas guest in the form of 83-year-old Karolyn Grimes, who melted hearts worldwide as a child with the famous line "Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings" in Frank Capra's Christmas classic "It’s a Wonderful Life" from 1946. This led to a live performance at the Cinematheque shortly after its release. The project has already received great acclaim in the industry.
The first release from 2021, "The Quiet Earth," even became the backdrop for Alex Nyborg Madsen's farewell speech to his listeners after 38 years as a radio host on DR, just like the second single from 2022, "Baby’s Coming Home for Christmas," enjoyed airplay on P4 and featured the Vesterbro Youth Club on the chorus.
Knudsen & band celebrate each year's releases with a grand concert in Copenhagen. This year, they expand with a tour around the country, where the audience, besides the Christmas songs, will have the opportunity to hear songs from, among others, the 2013 debut album Perils and the successor and the following Cloudwalker, both recorded in Berlin with producer Robbie Moore.
Two EPs and soon to be four Christmas singles have followed suit, so there is plenty to give away when Knudsen shakes the bag and invites the audience into his poetic baroque pop universe, which merges the psychedelia of the sixties with the guitar-driven indie rock of the eighties.
The fourth single release, the soul-inspired single, "Mama's Hearth," will be released on November 29, 2024.
