Few musicians cite both Dolly Parton and Katy Perry as musical role models. But the sources of inspiration make perfect sense when you listen to CMAT's panoramic sunshine pop with a light undercurrent of country feel.

Irish Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson – whose stage name is a contraction of the initials of her real name – has in recent years distinguished herself as one of the most exciting new pop names. She has been compared to American Chappell Roan and English Lola Young, among others, but CMAT is her own unique pop entity, elegantly bridging the gap between tradition and the present.

The 2022 debut If My Wife New I'd Be Dead is a formidable mix of ear-massaging melodies and lyrics that, with a dash of humor, revolve around topics such as love, broken hearts and mental health. The sequel Crazymad, for Me (2023) effortlessly builds on the qualities of its predecessor and was nominated for the prestigious British album award Mercury Prize in 2024. And on August 29th, her third studio album will be released. Euro-Country, from which the excellent single precursors have warmed up to another superb album experience.

Here at home, many music lovers have opened their ears to the Irish powerhouse via her concerts at Roskilde Festival 2024 and SYD FOR SOLEN 2025. The latter show GAFFA honored with 5 sparkling stars and the following invitation: "If you're lacking ideas for your next wish list, CMAT tickets should be at the top."
