Fríða Saiya unfolds dreams, doubts and big emotions in Lille VEGA
Fríða Saiya has quickly made a name for herself with her honest songwriting and distinctive pop sound. On her debut EP, [‘fryi:ja ‘sai:ja], released in August this year, she takes an important step forward in her development as an artist.
Named after the Danish pronunciation of Fríða Saiya’s name, the EP serves as an introduction to a musical universe where dreams, identity and major life transitions intertwine with atmospheric pop productions and deeply personal storytelling.
Speaking about the EP, Fríða Saiya says:
“The EP is about transitions. About moving from one version of yourself to another, and the sense of inadequacy that can come with it. I’m very inspired by dreams and the balance between the real and the subconscious, and many of the songs were written in the evening or at night.”
“Min Egen Værste Ven”stands out as the emotional high point of the EP. With synths, violin, guitars and pulsating drums, the song builds from an intimate beginning into a soaring climax, capturing the feeling of facing something new while being consumed by self-doubt.
A doubt Fríða Saiya is already finding plenty of reasons to leave behind. Her musical talent has not only attracted attention from P3 and radio. When Fríða Saiya performed at the Blinkende Lygter festival, a reviewer for Soundvenue wrote:
“Danish-Faroese Fríða Saiya needed nothing more than a single guitarist by her side to win over Blinkende Lygter in Kødbyen."
All signs point to nothing less than a magical evening when Fríða Saiya takes the stage at Lille VEGA on 8 April.
