Warm electronic rhythms from Maribou State
Since their album debut with Portraits in 2015, Maribou State has established itself as one of the best and most acclaimed electronic names of the past decade.
The secret behind Maribou State's success is their mix of downtempo, house, ambient and understated indie pop, which i.a. derives its beautiful melancholy and infectious sensitivity from their regular collaborator, singer Holly Walker. With its fusion of electronic and organic elements, Maribou is related to names like Caribou, Mount Kimbie and the xx.
The electronic duo consisting of Chris Davids and Liam Ivory have thus, among other things, completed sold-out tours in both Europe, Asia and North America, performed at Glastonbury Festival and at the iconic Sydney Opera House and has over 3.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
In 2018, Maribou State followed up the debut with Kingdoms in Color, which i.a. contains the terrific single "Feel Good" made in collaboration with the Texan instrumental soft rockers Khruangbin. The album reached the top 25 in the home country and was praised by e.g. NME, Q Magazine and Exclaim. In addition, Maribou has released two remix albums, a mix album for the electronic label fabric and a number of EPs as well as the Lana Del Rey remix.
After a huge rush, on January 31, 2025, Maribou State is finally ready with their third studio album, which bears the title Hallucinating Love and is released via the prestigious electronic label Ninja Tune (Bonobo, Peggy Gou, Modeselektor).
Fortunately, the group's Danish fans will not have to wait long to experience the new tracks live, because a few days after release, more specifically on 3 February 2025, Maribou State, who have previously given a concert at Roskilde Festival and in Pumpehuset - will give their biggest Danish concert to date venue concert in Store VEGA.
