Atusji takes over VEGA with album
September 6th, Atusji released his latest single "Baby, blev din stolthed ramt?", which is also featured on the upcoming album Slowboat til Asakusa.
"Baby, blev din stolthed ramt?" is about a spoilt person and the intricate and super-cringeworthy pride of being Danish. The single's bubbly and uplifting alt-pop melody contrasts with the more conflicted lyrics. The intertwined contrasts are echoed throughout the upcoming album.
Slowboat til Asakusa is a tale of origins, cultural divisions and loss. Divisions have been a recurring theme, which Atusji has also tried to address by including a track in Japanese. In addition, the Japanese track features Danish Kingtommi.
"There's a good amount of bitterness in the record. I can't quite put it into words yet, but the album is certainly used as a kind of therapeutic punching bag for frustrations," says Terkel Atsushi Røjle about his new album and also insists that the record contains an equal amount of light and mildness in its sonic expression.
Slowboat til Asakusa follows the album trio Soapbox Vol 1, 2 and 3, with the last album featuring both Helena Gao and Brimheim. With his previous releases, Atusji has made a name for himself with both favourable album and concert reviews, including for his concert at Roskilde Festival.
With his new album, Atusji expands his musical expression by singing in Danish and starts a new chapter with the album, which was recorded with a team of recognised musicians, including Ida Duelund (Barbro, Soleima etc.) and Rasmus Oppenhagen (Guldimund). Slowboat til Asakusa will be released October 25th.
