On everyone's lips in 2025 - meet VEGA's Selected!
On January 31, we will present the fifteenth edition of VEGAs Udvalgte, where we will come up with our strongest bet on what will caress the ear canals and shape the concert programs in the new year.
In the winter darkness, six sparkling artists will light up Vesterbro on January 31, when they show how versatile, talented and vital the Danish music scene is these years.
For VEGAs Udvalgte, we present the Danish music industry with the new names we think will make a mark in the music landscape. We are proud to have previously presented names such as Jada, MØ, Drew Sycamore, eee gee, Giift, Kind Mod Kind, Smag på Dig Selv and others. as VEGAs Udvalgte artists, who have subsequently made a breakthrough both on the national and international music scene.
Again this year, VEGA's bookers have chosen six names they have high expectations for.
VEGAs Udvalgte 2025 are:
Sira Jovina
Sira Jovina made a name for herself in 2023 on TikTok, where she invited her rapidly growing following into her teenage bedroom. Here she wrote songs, mastered several instruments and sang the songs acoustically from the safest place she knows, her bed. She has just been signed by Def Jam Recordings and recently released her eminent EP My Dream, My Always. Most recently, she has released the danceable summer single "Gi' Mig Lige" and the well-produced "Oktobernat".
100% WET
The two producers and guitarists Jakob Birch (The Lost Weekend, Lovespeed) and Casper Munns (Himmelrum, Drop, Splitscreen) unfold their mighty shoegaze universe that draws inspiration from 90s breakbeats, drum'n'bass and vaporwave. The experimental duo performs with various vocalists, e.g. Eir, Polly and Hockeysmith, adding beautiful ethereal melody lines to the fast-paced and guitar noise-influenced soundscape.
Karoline Funder
As Karoline Funder In March this year, the debut single "Vores Forhandling" was released, it was received with an overwhelming response. The song's accompanying music video was awarded by Soundvenue, while Politiken praised the debut and wrote: "If Det Elektriske Barometer still existed, Karoline Funder's debut song would be voted directly into first place".
The Danish songwriter moves in an organic and guitar-driven sound universe that sonically draws inspiration from the American indie folk scene. With her surprising and honest songwriting, she captures the intense complexity that exists in our close relationships. She sings about the unsaid things that bother us and make us afraid - and about how we bond and become dependent on each other.
BÆNCH
BÆNCH is a young Danish post-rock band that explores an atmospheric and dynamic rock sound with international potential. Dark guitar figures and picturesque synth surfaces lean against longing vocals.
BÆNCH has visited a number of festivals including Spot, Smukfest and Reeperbahn Festival. Their concert at Spot Festival 2024 attracted a lot of attention and received praise from the reviewers. Blue. from Bands of Tomorrow and Gaffa.
With their latest single "Fall Behind", the band challenges the rock genre on both dynamics and dogma by drawing threads to other genres such as shoegaze, grunge and alt-pop, and once again marks BÆNCH as a strong and innovative name on the Danish and international rock scene.
Thea Dora
With only a few songs released have Thea Dora already managed to cement himself as one of the most exciting new artists on the Danish electropop scene. Thea Dora's music invites you into a universe of pulsating forward-moving productions topped with catchy melodies. Her first single "llected" caught the attention of the international press, and Soundvenue called her "one of the most exciting things happening in Denmark right now."
The latest release from Thea Dora is the atmospheric and heartfelt dance number "Something About You". The single captures the listener's attention with a hypnotic rhythm and lyrics dealing with the intense feelings of attraction and desire.
Involved in the project is veteran songwriter and producer Ronni Vindahl, who is known for his work with Kendrick Lamar, Avicii and MØ.
Universe
The Danish trio consisting of Mikael Hegelund Martinsen, Lasse Panduro and Samantha Mercano create together genre-bending fusions of neo-soul and jazz. It's crisp beats and soft melody lines coupled with personal narratives. The band has released two EPs and one album.
Universe has received great praise without big budgets and major labels and has played e.g. in a completely sold-out Ideal Bar last November. They don't play anywhere, and you have to be lucky when the chance presents itself.
