After retiring from music for a long period, he returned John Vincent III back with the album Songs for the Canyon (2023). The release features atmospheric, 70s-inspired arrangements co-produced by Grammy-winning sound engineer Tom Elmhirst (Adele, David Bowie) at the legendary Electric Lady Studios.

The album marks a significant artistic leap, with John Vincent III expanding his soundscape with more voluminous instrumentation and beautiful atmospheric harmonies.

Songs for the Canyon is inspired by the music that emerged from the Los Angeles area of Laurel Canyon during the 70s with names like Joni Mitchell, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Carol King and others. Atwood Magazine wrote in their enthusiastic review of the album:

Now the songwriter is channeling this momentum into his next full-length album, due out later this year.
