Join us on a musical space journey with spherical synthesizers, jazzy tones, funky emotions and indie-pop riffs. Pearl & The Oyster are preparing for lift-off at Ideal Bar on May 24th.

On their first day of high school, the French-American duo, Juliette Pearl Davis and Joachim Polack, met. This fateful meeting in Paris would prove to shape their lives and pave the way for a musical and romantic partnership. The two followed each other throughout their further education, which included a degree in musicology at the Parisian university, Sorbonne. They have since continued their journey together and moved to the United States.

Their relationship was strengthened by a shared love of 70s jazz and 90s spacey pop. With synth sounds from a distant galaxy, groovy beats and a vocal that hovers somewhere between funk, jazz and indie pop. It is therefore no surprise that the title of their latest album is Planet Pearl (2024).

While Pearl & The Oysters' previous releases documented their lives in Florida and L.A., Planet Pearl is written from an extra-terrestrial point of view. The duo channeled space travelers who got lost on Earth on the album. On the record, Pearl Davis sings about being an outsider and feeling alienated. However, the sometimes dark topics are sprinkled with their sun-drenched synth-jazz-pop, wanting to show the listener the fun side of life.
