A sensitive jazz crooner, old 60s soul and chilled electronica. These are three things that have inspired Australian Nick Murphy's musical alias. Chet Faker.  

The name is a loving nod to the melancholic jazz singer and musician Chet Baker, while the music in his childhood home was influenced by his mother's love of Motown and his father's beloved Ibiza compilations. And the free spirit of jazz, the melodic sensitivity of soul and the escapist night and morning parties of the holiday island run together in his laid-back, image-creating compositions.

Murphy broke through in 2011 with a downtempo cover of Blackstreet's R&B classic "No Digity," which created a huge buzz in the blogosphere. In 2013, the song gained further attention when it was used in a Super Bowl commercial.

The following year, the debut was released Built on Glass, which topped the album chart in its home country and received a platinum record, thanks in part to the hit single "Talk Is Cheap". In 2019, Nick Murphy's next album, Run Fast Sleep Naked – published under his own name, just like its successor Music for Silence (2020).

However, in 2021 he returned to his artistic pseudonym with the album Hotel Surrender, which went top 20 in Australia. His latest release is the 2021 album Take in the Roses, released as Nick Murphy & The Program. Chet Faker has almost 3 million monthly plays on Spotify, and Nick Murphy has worked with Flume (on the huge hit “Drop the Game”), Kaytranada, Say Lou Lou, Banks and The Temper Trap, among others.

Last year, Nick Murphy celebrated the tenth anniversary of the broadcast of Built on Glass, which he celebrated with a successful international tour. Now he's soon jumping on the tour bus again, but this time the occasion is different. There's a new Chet Faker album on the way, and fortunately the electronic wizard has chosen to include Denmark on this album tour, more specifically Store VEGA, where he'll be on stage on October 18th.
